Formed by chains of cis-1, 4-polisoprene. Natural rubber latex is harvested by making incisions in the bark of the rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis) and collecting the fluid in vessels in a process called “tapping“. As an organic compound, latex must be preserved at the early stage of the collection to avoid contamination and, in consequence, coagulation. It’s extensively used in many applications and products from medical to industrial applications. In most of its useful forms, it has a large stretch ratio, high resilience, and waterproof.
